Police investigating firearm incident at Toowong

Police have charged an 18-year-old Springwood man following investigations into an incident at Toowong this morning.

Around 7am police were called by members of the public who reported seeing two men, one of which is alleged to have been pointing a firearm towards traffic at the intersection of Sherwood Road and Jephson Street.

Police attended a nearby hotel where they reviewed footage and spoke with staff who indicated the two men were staying there.

A short time later officers took a number of people into custody, however one man did not comply and was subsequently tasered.

The weapon was later confirmed to be a replica.

The 18-year-old man has been given a Notice to Appear for one count of going armed so as to cause fear. He is due to face the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 16.

Investigations are continuing.
