Police investigating Fitzroy assaults

Police are investigating two assaults that took place on Fitzroy Street and Brunswick Street, Fitzroy on the same day last month, Victoria Police say.

It is believed in the first incident the victim, a 25 year-old-man from Preston, was approached by three males who pushed him to the ground and stole his wallet in Fitzroy Street, Fitzroy at 8.15pm on 3 February.

One of the offenders is described as being in his 30s or 40s and was wearing a checked shirt and jeans.

The other two men are aged in their 20s, with one wearing a black hoodie with white writing and the other wearing a black polo shirt and black cap.

In the second incident, it is believed the victim, a 21-year-old-female from Brunswick East was walking along Brunswick Street, Fitzroy at 11pm when she walked past two men.

One of the men pushed her to the ground, causing her to drop her mobile phone.

One of the men picked up the phone and walked away and when she asked him to give the phone back, he punched her and left the scene heading south along Brunswick Street.

Neither victim was seriously injured.

Police believe the incidents are linked.

Investigators have released images of three men they believe can assist with their enquiries.
