Police investigating shooting incident at Surfers Paradise

Police are investigating after a man received a gun shot wound to his arm in Surfers Paradise overnight.

Officers were called to a hotel complex on the corner of Cavill Avenue and the Gold Coast Highway at around 10:45pm following reports a man had been shot.

Preliminary investigations indicate the man was standing on the balcony of a unit when a suspected firearm was discharged from a neighbouring unit, striking the man in his left upper arm.

Police and emergency services responded and transported an 18-year-old man to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening injury.

No one else was physically injured during the incident.

The Gold Coast Highway was closed between Thomas Drive and Beach Road as officers responded.
