Police investigating wounding at Robina 8 May

Gold Coast police are appealing to the public for assistance in an investigation into the violent robbery and wounding of a 36-year-old man at Robina on Friday May 6.

Initial investigations indicate a road rage incident has occurred at approximately 10.30pm on University Drive near Cottesloe Drive between the occupants of two vehicles and a 36-year-old Varsity Lakes man on an electric bicycle.

During the altercation the 36-year-old man was assaulted with a metal pole and stabbed several times with a knife in the buttocks.

Members of the public came to the man's aid, when the occupants of the vehicles then left the scene with the 36-year-old's belongings and electric bike.

The 36-year-old man suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Anyone in that area between 10pm and 11pm who may have residential CCTV or vehicle dashcam footage showing a green sedan and white sedan or a person riding an electric bicycle is urged to contact police.

Investigations are ongoing.
