Police investigating wounding at Waterford West

A man has been charged following the alleged stabbing of another man in Waterford West last night.

Police were called to a unit block on Bourke Street around 8.15pm following reports a man had sustained a stab wound.

A 32-year-old Beachmere man was located inside one of the units with a serious injury to his abdomen.

He was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

Police located a 45-year-old man inside one of the other units and he was taken into custody a short time later.

It will be alleged he became involved in a verbal altercation with the 32-year-old man outside the complex before stabbing him with a knife.

The 45-year-old Waterford West man has been charged with acts intended to maim and is due to face Beenleigh Magistrates Court today (May 14).

Investigations are continuing.
