Police Lay Arson Charges, Ashmore

Police have charged a 35-year-old man with arson following investigations into a fire at a business in Ashmore yesterday, 5 November.

It will be alleged about 1.50pm, the man attended an address on Commercial Drive and used an accelerant to light a donation bin on fire, before fleeing.

A 35-year-old Logan Village woman was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to Gold Coast University Hospital.

No one else was injured and nearby businesses were evacuated, as a precaution.

The 35-year-old Biggera Waters man has been charged with one count of arson.

He is expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today, 6 November.
