Police lay arson charges, Gailes

Detectives from Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 23-year-old Tarragindi man following the alleged arson of a house in Gailes on October 8.

Emergency services responded to reports of a house on fire on Janice Street around 5:00 am.

It will be alleged the fire was deliberately lit.

The building was significantly damaged by the fire.

There was four occupants inside the house at the time of the fire however all managed to escape and no one was injured.

Following investigations, detectives this morning arrested a 23-year-old Tarragindi man and charged him with one count of arson.

He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on October 11.

Police continue to appeal for anyone with information regarding this matter to come forward.
