Police Lay Assault Charges At Cairns 31 May

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after he allegedly stabbed a man in Ellis Beach overnight.

It will be alleged around 10.45pm an argument has occurred between two men at an address in Ellis Beach.

During the argument one man stabbed the other in the chest before fleeing the scene.

A 48-year-old Speewah man was transported to the Cairns Hospital where he remains in a stable condition with a single wound to the chest.

A 45-year-old Wulguru man has been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm. He will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Monday, 1 June.

The two men are known to each other.
