Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged aggravated burglary in Albion on Sunday 10 August.
It's alleged an 84-year-old man was confronted by an unknown man armed with a knife at his Ridley Street property just after 8pm.
The offender allegedly demanded the 84-year-old's car keys and punched the elderly victim in the face when he refused.
The victim's 50-year-old son attended the property and was allegedly confronted by the offender before an altercation ensued and he was stabbed multiple times.
The victims held the offender down until police arrived at the scene.
The 84-year-old was taken to hospital where he remains with serious injuries.
The 50-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The offender, a 34-year-old man, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries sustained during the incident.
He has since been charged with aggravated burglary, attempted aggravated burglary, attempted aggravated carjacking, intentionally cause injury, false imprisonment, burglary, theft and handle stolen goods.
Additionally, he has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, burglary (x2), theft (x2) and handle stolen goods.
These charges are in relation to the following alleged incidents on Friday 8 August:
- a burglary on Nicholson Crescent, Bell Park
- a burglary on Darriwill Street, Bell Post Hill
- an aggravated burglary and theft of motor vehicle on Kanasa Avenue, Bell Post Hill
The Blind Bight man will appear before the Bail and Remand Court later today.
