Police lay charges after drugs and more than $30,000 cash seized at Raymond Terrace

A man will appear in court today charged over the alleged supply of illicit drugs in the state's Hunter region overnight.

About 10.45pm (Saturday 29 May 2021), officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were conducting inquiries in the Raymond Terrace area when they attempted to speak to a man on Parkway Avenue.

The man immediately fled on foot and was pursued by officers; allegedly throwing a bag into a residential property on Wahroonga Street.

The 23-year-old was arrested shortly after and the bag was recovered.

During a search of the bag, police seized 100.8 grams of a substance believed to be methylamphetamine, 80 grams of an unknown white powder, prescription medication and $32,840 cash. All will be forensically examined.

He was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable, two counts of possess prohibited drug, and deal with property proceeds of crime.

The Stockton man appeared at Newcastle Bail Court today (Sunday 30 May 2021) and was formally refused bail to reappear at Raymond Terrace Local Court tomorrow (Monday 31 May 2021).
