Police lay charges after fatal crash at Wilton

A man has been charged following an investigation into a fatal crash near Picton in October.

Just before 6am on Saturday 17 October 2020, emergency services were called to Picton Road, near Macarthur Drive, Wilton, following reports of a head-on crash.

Police have been told a white Toyota Hilux towing a boat and a grey Toyota Hilux collided, killing the driver of the grey utility – a 25-year-old man.

His male passenger and the male driver and sole occupant of the white utility were both treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

Two further vehicles were also hit and sustained minor damage. The drivers were uninjured; however, they were taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command established a crime scene.

Following inquiries by the Crash Investigation Unit, police arrested the driver of the white Toyota Hilux at a home in Warragamba yesterday (Sunday 13 December 2020).

The 21-year-old was taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle, drive vehicle, illicit drug present in blood etc, not keep left of dividing line-not class B/C vehicle, and tow trailer when not safe.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear in Penrith Local Court on Tuesday 22 December 2020.
