A man will face court today charged after being caught allegedly drink-driving twice in less than three hours.
About 3.30am today (Monday 7 June 2021), police saw a black 2008 Audi A4 sedan allegedly perform an illegal turn on Oxford Street, Surry Hills.
The vehicle stopped on Palmer Street and the occupants left the Audi and became involved in a fight with patrons leaving a nearby hotel.
Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Highway Patrol intervened and spoke to the driver of the Audi. He was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.
The man was arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was subjected to a breath analysis which returned an alleged high-range reading of 0.181.
The man had his driver's licence suspended and was released on conditional bail at about 5.55am.
Just before 6.05am, the man was seen by police driving the same Audi along Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst, before he stopped and allegedly parked illegally.
The man was again arrested and subjected to a roadside breath test, which – again – returned a positive result.
The 27-year-old man was taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was subjected to a breath analysis which returned an alleged mid-range reading of 0.138.
He was charged with drive with high-range PCA, drive across dividing lines to do U-turn, disobey no right turn sign, drive with middle-range PCA, drive motor vehicle while licence suspended, and detention application – arrest.
The Ingleburn man is due to appear at Central Local Court today.
