Police lay charges after nearly $900,000 of cannabis seized - Engadine

A man will face court today charged as police continue to dismantle a large-scale hydroponic setup at a home in Sydney's south.

In March, officers from Redfern Regional Enforcement Squad commenced an investigation into the cultivation and supply of cannabis across the Sutherland Shire region.

Following inquiries, investigators, with the assistance of officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command, executed a search warrant at a home in Kingswood Road, Engadine, about 8.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 3 April 2019).

Police located a large-scale hydroponic setup at the property; seizing 303 cannabis plants, with an estimated potential street value of $897,000, and 500g of cannabis head.

A 57-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Sutherland Police Station, where he was charged with cultivate prohibited plant large commercial quantity, use/consume/waste electricity without authority, and supply prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Thursday 4 April 2019).

Investigations are continuing.
