Police lay charges after sexual touching - Merrylands

A man has been charged following an investigation into the alleged sexual touching of a boy in Merrylands yesterday.

About 2.55pm (Friday 25 March 2022), police were told a man sat next to a 13-year-old boy at a bus stop on Blaxcell Street and allegedly sexually touched him.

The boy and man then got on the same bus before the man continued to speak to the boy and allegedly make lewd comments.

The boy exited the bus at Granville Railway Station and reported the incident.

Officers attached to the Police Transport Command Northwest subsequently commenced an investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, a 32-year-old man was arrested at Merrylands police station about 9.30pm last night (Friday 25 March 2022).

He was charged with procure child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity and intentionally sexually touch child.

The Guildford man was given conditional bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court on Monday 4 April 2022.
