Police lay charges after Sydney CBD assault

Three men have been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault in a Sydney CBD convenience store last Friday.

Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command attended a convenience store on Liverpool Street about 12.40am (Friday 24 March 2023), after reports of an assault.

A 31-year-old man was found suffering facial injuries after allegedly being assaulted by three people. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital.

A crime scene was established, and police commenced inquiries into the circumstance surrounding the incident.

Following an investigation, an 18-year-old man from Bronte was arrested about 9.30pm later that day at Waverley Police Station. He was charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

About 6.30am today (Sunday 26 March 2023), a 19-year-old man from Maroubra was arrested at Maroubra Police Station, where he was charged with common assault.

About 5pm, an 18-year-old man from Centennial Park was arrested at Day Street Police Station and was charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

All three have been granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on 19 April 2023.
