Police lay charges - Aggravated assault in Alice Springs 23 August

Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to a violent incident in Alice Springs last week.

At around 10:40am on 19 August 2021, it is alleged a 34-year-old man drove a vehicle into a commercial venue on Todd Street, causing extensive damage.

It is alleged he then got out of the vehicle and attempted to assault an employee of the business.

He was arrested by police at the scene and was later charged with:

  • 2 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Recklessly endangering serious harm
  • 1 x Drive uninsured motor vehicle
  • 1 x Drive unregistered motor vehicle
  • 1 x Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed
  • 1 x Drive vehicle in a manner dangerous

He has been remanded to appear before Alice Springs Local Court on 7 October 2021.
