Police lay charges over drug offences in Katherine

Katherine Police have apprehended a 33-year-old female for drug offences.

The woman was stopped in a vehicle on the Stuart Highway for a random breath test around 4:40am yesterday. Police observed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the driver's side window which resulted in a search of the vehicle. The search located 480 grams of cannabis and 800 empty clip seal bags.

The woman was charged with:

• Possess trafficable quantity of a schedule 2 drug

• Supply less than commercial quantity of schedule 2 drug in Indigenous community

• Furnish false name to member

She has been bailed to appear at Numbulwar Local Court on 28 August 2019.
