Police lay charges over fatal pedestrian crash - Narellan

A woman has been charged after a pedestrian died in hospital, following a crash at Narellan last month.

An 81-year-old Narellan woman was walking across Camden Valley Way, Narellan, about 1.20pm (Thursday 9 May 2019), when she was allegedly struck by a BMW driving east.

The driver, a 60-year-old woman from Carnes Hill, stopped and rendered assistance to the pedestrian, assisted by other members of the public.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command established a crime scene and with the assistance of the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The older woman was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition where she later died.

The driver was uninjured but was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

About 3pm yesterday (Thursday 13 June 2019), the driver attended Liverpool Police Station and spoke with investigators where she was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Monday 8 July 2019.

Her drivers' licence was also suspended.
