Police lay charges over property offences in Alice Springs 26 August

Northern Territory Police have charged number of youths in relation to property offences in Alice Springs this month.

On 17 August 2021, a residence in Gillen was unlawfully entered with two vehicles and a number of smaller items stolen. Strike Force Viper investigators located the stolen property yesterday at a residence in Alice Springs. Two 15-year-old males were charged with:

  • 1 x Unlawfully possessing stolen property

They were bailed to appear in court today.

A third 15-year-old male was charged with:

  • 1 x Serious Breach of bail

He was remanded to appear in court today.

At around 12:30pm yesterday, Police received reports of an unlawful entry in progress on Nicker Crescent, Gillen. A male was seen fleeing the residence upon police arrival. After a short pursuit through a number of properties the youth was apprehended by members from the Dog Operations Unit.

The 15-year-old was later charged by investigators from Strike Force Viper with:

  • 2 x Trespass
  • 1 x Unlawful entry - dwelling
  • 1 x Damage property
  • 1 x Stealing
  • 1 x Breach bail

He was further charged by investigators for his alleged involvement in the 17 August unlawful entry with:

  • 1 x Attempted Unlawful Entry
  • 1 x Trespass
  • 1 x Damage to Property

He was remanded to appear before court today.
