Police lay charges over sexual touching - Gordons Bay

A man has been charged following an investigation into the alleged sexual touching of a woman in Sydney's east nearly two years ago.

About 1.30pm on Friday 20 March 2020, a 23-year-old woman was climbing rocks at Gordons Bay, Coogee, when she was approached from behind by an unknown man.

The man allegedly sexually touched the woman, before leaving the area.

The incident was reported to officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command later that night, who subsequently commenced an investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, officers arrested a 46-year-old man at Marrickville about 8.30am on Tuesday (8 February 2022).

He was taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with sexually touch another person without consent.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Newtown Local Court the same day, where he was granted bail to re-appear at Newtown Local Court on Wednesday 30 March 2022.
