Police Make Arrest After Stolen Van Set Alight

A man has been arrested after allegedly setting a stolen van on fire in Rostrevor overnight.

About 10.30pm on Tuesday 21 July, police responded to reports of a Mitsubishi van being driven erratically in Magill.

The van crashed through a fence of a community hall on Koongarra Court, Magill and drove off.

At 10.50pm police and fire crews were alerted to a vehicle fire in Koonga Avenue in Rostrevor. The area was searched and the alleged driver was spotted nearby. He ran off from the police and after a short foot chase was arrested.

The 42-year-old man of no fixed place was charged with arson, property damage, driving without due care, failing to stop at a crash, resisting police and driving disqualified. He did not apply for bail and will appear at Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

The van was reported stolen from a Magill address on 13 July.
