Police make arrest after Westmeadows armed robbery

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad arrested a man yesterday following an investigation into an armed robbery in Westmeadows on 2 March.

Officers were called to a licenced venue just after 5am following reports two people, armed with firearms, had confronted a woman.

Shortly after police arrived, the woman ran from the venue stating she had been held inside.

The woman was not physically harmed.

The 58-year-old man was arrested at a private premise on Bonds Lane in Westmeadows at midday.

He has been charged with armed robbery, false imprisonment and aggravated burglary.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
