Police make arrest - Aggravated assault in Alice Springs 25 March

A man who is alleged to have seriously physically assaulted a woman in a remote community last year, has been arrested and charged by Northern Territory Police.

It will be alleged on 4 February, 2021 a 23-year-old man physically assaulted a 23-year-old woman, who is known to him, in a remote community in the Barkly region.

The woman suffered serious injuries as a result of the assault and sought help at the community store who contacted local police.

The man fled the community prior to police arrival and has remained outstanding since.

Ongoing investigations by Detectives in the Southern Serious Crime Unit identified the 23-year-old man had recently travelled to Alice Springs, and he was subsequently located and arrested by Detectives on Wednesday.

He was charged with one count each of Aggravated Assault and Breach Domestic Violence Order. He was remanded to appear before court today.
