The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 19-year-old male in relation to a violent disturbance that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday evening.
Around 6:35pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of a large disturbance in the vicinity of Red Sands Court in Desert Springs.
It is alleged a group of people, some of whom were armed with various blunt and edged weapons, were engaged in fighting.
Police members from Operation Ludlow II, Southern Investigations and general duties attended, and the group dispersed into the Todd River and nearby golf course. No injuries were reported to police.
A 19-year-old male armed with a blunt weapon was arrested and was subsequently found to be in possession of ammunition. No firearm was located by police. Various blunt and edged weapons were found discarded in the vicinity and were seized.
Police received further reports after leaving that the group had returned, however dispersed prior to police re-attendance.
