Police Make Arrest - Domestic Violence In Alice Springs 18 January

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a man for serious domestic violence offences in Alice Springs last night.

About 09:00 pm the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre received reports that a female had been assaulted by a male inside a supermarket at Larapinta.

After entering the store the 33-year-old woman was followed by her 43-year-old partner who proceeded to strike the victim several times to the head before dragging her to the ground and continuing to assault her.

Alice Springs general duties officers attended the scene and arrested the offender and he remains in police custody.

He is expected to be charged with Recklessly Endanger Serious Harm later today.

The victim was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries and remains in a stable condition.
