Police make arrest over armed robbery, Burleigh Heads

Police have arrested a woman following the armed robbery of a Burleigh Heads convenience store last night.

Around 6.40pm a woman entered the Gold Coast Highway store where she allegedly threatened the male attendant with a knife and demanded cigarettes and cash.

The woman was handed two packets of cigarettes and then fled the store. She was seen getting into the passenger's seat of a vehicle before it drove off.

The attendant was not physically harmed.

Police attended and tracked the vehicle to an address where a woman was located in possession of the stolen cigarettes and a knife.

A 41-year-old Burleigh Waters woman was arrested and later charged with one count of armed robbery.

She is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates court on January 9.
