Police make arrest - Property and criminal offending in Alice Springs

A youth allegedly involved in multiple property and criminal offences across Alice Springs, has been arrested and charged by members of Strike Force Viper.

Just before 5:30am on Sunday, a 12-year-old female is alleged to have used a shopping trolley to damage two businesses in the Alice Springs CBD area before fleeing the area in a stolen motor vehicle.

The youth allegedly used a stolen credit card to purchase items from a service station before attending a supermarket where she attempted to steal cigarettes and seriously assaulted a staff member.

A witness to the assault incident flagged down members of Strike Force Viper and helped identify the youth, who was located and arrested.

The youth was taken to the Alice Springs Watch House where she was charged with;

1 x Serious Breach of Bail

1 x Assault with intent to Steal

2 x Criminal Damage

1 x Criminal Deception

1 x Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle

1 x Furnish False Name

She will appear before court on the 28th of April.
