The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 30-year-old male in relation to traffic and property offences.
Early on Tuesday morning, members from Strike Force Trident and the Dog Operations Unit were called into action following reports of active stolen motor vehicles.
Around 5:15am, Trident members attempted a traffic apprehension on a Toyota Landcruiser bearing false plates.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop, police initiated a pursuit.
About 20 minutes later, the pursuit came to an end when the Landcruiser became stuck in a swampy section of road on a dirt track off Wanderrie Road in Herbert.
Detectives from Strike Force Trident later executed a search warrant at a residence on Eucalyptus Road, Herbert allegedly linked to the 30-year-old driver. A motorcycle previously reported stolen in November 2024, as well as multiple previously reported stolen NT registration number plates, were located by police.
The male has since been charged with:
- Driving, using/riding motor vehicle without consent
- Drive vehicle with wrong number plate
- Driving vehicle manner dangerous pursuit
- Drive unregistered motor vehicle
- Drive uninsured motor vehicle
- Drive licence expired - 2 months
- Fail to obey direction of Police officer
- Fail to supply saliva driver
- 2 x Unlawfully possess property
He has been remanded to appear in court on Wednesday, 18 February.
