Merri-bek Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged three men following an alleged commercial burglary in Brunswick where clothes were stolen Wednesday night.
It is alleged five men exited a vehicle parked behind a clothing store on Lygon Street on 25 February about 7.30pm.
They allegedly forced entry to the building before stealing a large quantity of clothing and moving the items to their vehicle.
Police swiftly responded and disturbed the alleged offenders, before it is alleged three of the men attempted to take off on foot.
All five men were arrested and police returned the clothes to the business.
A 29-year-old Coolaroo man and a 31-year-old Hughesdale man were both charged with burglary and theft.
They were bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 7 September.
A 43-year-old Coburg man was charged with trespass and possess drug of dependence.
He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 7 September.
A 25-year-old St Kilda East man was charged with unrelated offences and bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 5 March.
A 27-year-old Meadow Heights man was released and is expected to be charged on summons.
