Police make arrests after discovery of clandestine labartory in Port Melbourne

Clandestine Laboratory Squad detectives arrested two people this morning following the execution of five search warrants as part of a drug investigation.

The warrants were executed, with the assistance of Drug Taskforce detectives and specialist units at properties in:

• Turvell Place, Port Melbourne;

• Sugar Lane, Port Melbourne;

• Hope Street, Brunswick West;

• Larnoo Avenue, Brunswick West; and

• A storage facility in Salmon Street, Port Melbourne.

A 29-year-old Port Melbourne woman was arrested at the Turvell Place property and a 32-year-old Port Melbourne man was arrested in a nearby street.

Police located large commercial quantities of drug including approximately 1 kg of methylamphetamine, a substantial quantity of glassware and precursor chemicals consistent with the manufacture of illicit drugs, a pill press and what is believed to be up to $13 million in cash at a property on Turville Place.

Detectives remain at each of the properties as part of the investigation.

The pair remain in police custody.
