The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested three male youths in relation to an aggravated robbery that occurred in Katherine overnight.
Around 8:20pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that a group of male youths had threatened an adult female and stolen items from her.
It is alleged one of the youths was armed with an edged weapon when the group approached the victim and threatened her, demanding her car keys. During the incident, one of the youths allegedly attempted to steal the victim's bag, resulting in a brief struggle. The victim fell to the ground and sustained injuries. The youths then fled the scene on foot with the bag containing personal items.
Police responded and located the alleged offenders a short time later. Three youths aged 10, 11 and 13 were arrested, and the victim's stolen property was recovered nearby.
Police continue to work closely with the Katherine community, local services and families to prevent youth offending and keep the community safe. The Northern Territory Police Force remind parents and carers of the importance of parental responsibility and urge them to take an active role in engaging with their children's activities and wellbeing.
