Police make arrests over unlawful entries in Katherine

Katherine Police have arrested a 13-year-old male in relation to an unlawful entry of a Katherine school on Monday night.

It is alleged that the youth unlawfully entered the school around 7pm by damaging a door before stealing property.

The youth was bailed with conditions to appear in the Katherine Youth Justice Court for the following offences:

  • Unlawful Entry
  • Stealing
  • Damage to Property
  • Breach of Bail

Two 12-year-old males were also arrested for alleged unlawful entries of two Katherine businesses on the same evening.

It is alleged that around 9.30pm on Monday night the youths unlawfully entered the businesses by damaging doors and stealing property.

One youth was bailed with conditions to appear in the Katherine Youth Justice Court for the following offences:

  • Unlawful Entry x 2
  • Stealing
  • Damage to Property

The second youth will be undertaking youth diversion.

Superintendent of Katherine Daniel Shean praised the quick response of police and their efforts to arrest the offenders soon after the offences.

"While police continue to pursue and apprehend offenders such as these, it's still important for businesses to take up the Biz Secure grant to assist in protection from criminal activity if they haven't done so already."
