Police Make Arrests - Stolen Motor Vehicle In Alice Springs 13 October

Four male youths have been arrested following a stolen motor vehicle pursuit that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday.

Sometime between 2pm and 6pm, a green Volvo was allegedly stolen during a burglary in East Side. Around 6:30pm the vehicle was sighted driving inbound on Larapinta Drive towards Bradshaw Drive.

A police pursuit commenced, and tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed on the vehicle as it travelled south along the Stuart Highway through The Gap.

The Volvo came to a stop along the Stuart Highway and the four occupants, aged 10, 10, 11 and 14-years-old were arrested.

The two 10-year-olds and the 11-year-old were dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005. The 14-year-old driver has been charged in relation to this incident and is due to appear in court today.

A civilian car was inadvertently spiked during the operation, with police reimbursing the owner for the damage to the tyres. No injuries were reported.
