Police make arrests - Stolen Motor vehicle in Alice Springs

Two people who were observed attempting to drive a stolen vehicle in the Alice Springs CBD area this morning, have been arrested and charged.

At 3:45am police officers observed a blue Holden Cruz continuously stalling at the intersection of Telegraph Terrace and Parsons Street.

Officers identified the vehicle as being stolen, and ran to the vehicle and arrested an 18-year- old man in the driver seat and a 16-year-old male in the passenger seat.

Investigations indicate the vehicle was stolen in an unlawful entry of a home in East Side where the victim's handbag, wallet and a quantity of alcohol had been stolen earlier this morning.

The 18-year-old man will appear before the Alice Springs Local Court charged with;

  • Unlawful entry
  • Stealing
  • Unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • Learner driver no licensed passenger.

The 16-year-old male will appear before court charged with;

  • Unlawful entry
  • Stealing
  • Unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
