Police officer assaulted in Cabramatta

A police officer has been assaulted after an altercation with a man at Cabramatta early this morning, NSW Police say.

Just before 12.30am tomorrow, police were patrolling on Hill Street, Cabramatta, when they observed a man acting suspiciously.

The officers exited their vehicle and a foot pursuit commenced.

A short time later, a second man was observed on Hughes Street.

As a female leading senior constable tried to detain him, she was pushed and fell and hit her head.

Both men fled the scene.

Police searched the surrounding area; however, no one was located.

The injured officer was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital with a laceration to her face.

Officers from Cabramatta Local Area Command would like to speak to two males who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
