Police Officer bitten at Somerton Park, South Australia

A man has been arrested after allegedly spitting on and biting a Police Officer at Somerton Park last night.

At 11.50pm on Monday 22 November a patrol officer stopped a cyclist on Harrow Road in relation to riding without lights.

When the officer advised the man he was going be fined, the man spat on the officer and attempted to ride away. The officer chased the cyclist on foot and arrested him.

During the arrest the man bit and punched the officer. The officer was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries and was not admitted.

The 29-year-old man from Somerton Park was charged with aggravated assault.

Her has been bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 23 December.
