A police officer has been charged following an investigation into an alleged shoplifting offence in Sydney's west, while the officer was off duty.
About 3.50pm on Wednesday 11 June 2025, the off-duty police officer – a constable who is attached to a specialist command – attended a chemist on Patrick Street, Blacktown.
He left a short time later, allegedly taking an item without paying for it.
Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command were later notified of the incident and commenced investigations.
Following extensive inquiries, the 23-year-old man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for one count of shoplifting yesterday (Friday 8 August 2025).
He will appear at Blacktown Local Court on Thursday 18 September 2025.
The officer been suspended with pay and his employment status is under review.
