Police officer injured in traffic crash – Tugun

An on duty male police officer has been injured after he was struck by a car while helping members of the public who had been involved in a minor traffic crash at Tugun today, Queensland Police say.

Around 11.40am the officer had got out of his police car to render assistance when the driver of a vehicle travelling northbound along the M1 lost control and struck the officer.

He has been transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with head and internal injuries.

His condition is listed as stable.

Investigations are ongoing.
