Police officer struck by vehicle in Booval, QLD

A teenage boy and girl are assisting police with inquiries after a police officer was allegedly struck by a vehicle in Booval early this morning, Queensland Police say.

Police were driving in the Ipswich area around 5am when it will be alleged they observed a stolen Volvo sedan.

The vehicle turned into Brisbane Road where a tyre deflation device was deployed by an officer, however the driver allegedly swerved to avoid them.

As a result, the officer was struck by the vehicle and sustained serious head and internal injuries.

Police located the vehicle on Vowels Street a short time later.

The teenagers are currently assisting police with their inquiries.

The male constable was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Brisbane Road is closed with traffic diversions via McGrath Lane and Stafford Street.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

Investigations are continuing.
