Police officer suspended in Northern Region, QLD

A 29-year-old male constable from the Northern Region has been suspended from the Queensland Police Service, Queensland Police say.

The officer is subject of an investigation in relation to use of excessive force on a suspect in custody.

The officer has been issued with a Notice to Appear for common assault and is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on December 11.

In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct. This does not mean that the allegations against the officer have been substantiated.
