Police officer tests positive to COVID-19

Ringwood police station has been temporarily closed after a Victoria Police member tested positive to COVID-19.

The station was closed and professionally cleaned on 17 March after the member was informed someone they had contact with whilst on annual leave had tested positive to coronavirus.

The officer had only returned from leave that day and was performing duties that involved minimal contact with members of the public.

They were placed into self-isolation that day and have since tested positive to COVID-19.

As a precaution the station will be closed for several hours and thoroughly cleaned again today.

Local area service delivery will not be impacted.

Two members who had close contact with the affected officer also went into self-isolation on 17 March, as per health advice.

Victoria Police continues to work around the clock on its plans in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Our priority first and foremost is to ensure the safety of our people and the community.
