Police Operation Concludes In Sydney CBD 12 October

A police operation has concluded with no significant incidents following a planned public assembly in Sydney's CBD today (Sunday 12 October 2025).

A high-visibility police operation was conducted, with hundreds of police deployed across the city to ensure the safety of both participants, as well as the community and local businesses.

The operation included specialist officers attached to the Police Transport Command, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Public Order and Riot Squad, Operations Support Group, Mounted Unit, Dog Unit, Marine Area Command and PolAir.

At Hyde Park, police estimate approximately 8,000 people took part in the protest, marching to Belmore Park

A 30-year-old man was arrested at the intersection of George and Liverpool Streets about 3.20pm after being found in possession of an offensive implement. He will be taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged.

At the Opera House, a 41-year-old man – who was not involved in the public assembly - was arrested about 11.50am after allegedly approaching and threatening officers. He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station before being transferred to St Vincent's Hospital for assessment. The Surry Hills man is expected to be charged.

Two people were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, there were no reports of any serious injuries.

All temporary road closures have since been reopened.
