Police out to bust beret-wearing vandal and fellow offender

Transit Safety Division investigators are appealing for public assistance following a large-scale act of vandalism on a train late last year.

The train was temporarily stopped between Mordialloc and Aspendale railway stations between 4 pm and 5 pm on 11 September 2018 when two men climbed a fence adjacent to the railway line.

The men proceeded to graffiti the train with spray paint, causing extensive damage, before climbing back over the fence and fleeing on foot.

The estimated cost of the damage and subsequent time penalties is $7500.

One of the men is described as Caucasian in appearance, 25-30 years-old with a medium-build, short wavy black hair, a moustache and a pale complexion.

He was wearing a blue beret, a white overcoat, a blue and white striped shirt and light blue tracksuit pants with white stripes at the time of the incident.

The second male is described as Caucasian in appearance, 25-30 years-old with a medium build and shoulder length dark curly hair.

He was wearing a light-coloured wide-brim hat with orange band, a high-vis orange and blue shirt and light blue jeans.

Investigators have released CCTV footage and images of two men they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
