Police Probe After Man Found Injured in Ashfield

An investigation is underway after a man was found with serious injuries in Sydney's inner west today.

About 3pm today (Tuesday 3 March 2026), emergency services were called to Holden Street, near Liverpool Road, Ashfield, following reports of a concern for welfare.

Officers attached Burwood Police Area Command were told two men were seen dragging a third man with serious injuries.

The two men left the scene before police arrived and the third man - believed to be in his 50s - was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.

A short time later, police arrested a 38-year-old man nearby.

He was taken to Burwood Police Station where inquiries continue.

A crime scene has been established, and police have commenced an investigation into the incident.
