Police are investigating an aggravated break and enter in the Illawarra today, NSW Police say.
About 11am today, police were called to a home in Osborne Parade, Warilla.
Police have been told that an unknown man entered the home and confronted the resident, a 43-year-old man, with a metal bar.
The resident has then fled the home.
The unknown man has then stolen the victim’s car keys and taken his Ford from the location.
A short time later, officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command sighted the Ford in King St, Warilla, where the driver fled on foot.
Officers established a perimeter and with the assistance of the Dog Unit and PolAir, began searching for the offender.
Despite an extensive search, police were unsuccessful in locating the man.
Investigations are continuing into the incident.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation this incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers.
