Police probe armed robbery in Terrigal

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery on the Central Coast last night, NSW Police say.

About 9pm yesterday, a man entered a bottle shop on Terrigal Drive, Terrigal, and threatened staff with a machete, demanding cash.

The two 21-year-old male employees handed over cash before the man ran from the store through the car park. He was last seen running along Junction Road toward Bellbird Avenue.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police from Brisbane Water Local Area Command conducted an extensive search of the area; however, no one was located.

A crime scene was established at the location and examined by specialist forensic officers.

Local detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and would like to speak with a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being aged in his 20s, with a thin build and a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a grey long-sleeved shirt and dark-coloured long pants, and had a blue jumper wrapped around his head, covering his face.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
