Police probe bag snatch in Wollongong

Police are appealing for public assistance after a robbery in Wollongong today.

About 7.10pm today, a 30-year-old man woman was walking east on Burelli Street, Wollongong, near the entrance to McCabe Park, when she was approached from behind by two males.

One of the males grabbed the woman’s handbag and tried to pull it away from her. The other man then also grabbed the bag and tried to pull it from the woman. As a result of the struggle the woman was dragged a number of meters before the men were able to run off with her bag.

They were last seen running through McCabe Park before getting into a small white hatchback.

The woman suffered minor injuries as a result of the robbery.

Police from Wollongong Local Area Command are conducting inquiries.

The first male who grabbed the bag is described as medium build, about 180cm tall, with black hair, unshaven, with a light coloured cap, black t-shirt with a white logo on front, black shorts, white socks, and black shoes with white soles.

The second male is described as having a thin build, 185cm tall, wearing a blue hooded jumper, black tracksuit pants, and white shoes, NSW Police say.
