Police probe brawl in Leichhardt

Police are investigating after a brawl at a function centre in Leichhardt overnight, NSW Police say.

About 10pm today, police were called to a function centre on Catherine Street, Leichardt, following reports of a brawl.

Officers from Leichhardt Local Area Command attended and were told a brawl had taken place at the location but the incident had ceased prior to police arrival.

A 43-year-old man suffered a broken nose during the brawl and was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

A 26-year-old man became aggressive towards police and was arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station. He was issued with a Criminal Infringement Notice (CIN) for offensive language and released pending further inquiries.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers.
