Police probe child approach in Riverina

Police from Murray River Police District are investigating a reported child approach that occurred in Jindera yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 8.30am on Thursday (7 June 2018), a 10-year-old girl was riding her pushbike along the footpath of Urana Road, near Molkentin Road, Jindera, on her way to school.

A white van, with white-painted rear and side windows stopped next to the girl and the male driver attempted to engage her in conversation.

The man got out of his vehicle and started walking towards the girl, however the child quickly rode away on her bike.

The girl reported the incident to her teacher when she arrived at school, who then contacted police.

The man has been described as being aged in his 50s, between 170cm-180cm tall, with a pale complexion and brown hair with grey patches and balding at the front.

He was wearing a black t-shirt with a large grey skull on the front, black tracksuit pants with an orange stripe down the sides, brown slip on work boots and dark sunglasses.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
