Police probe convenience store robbery in Glebe

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the robbery of a convenience store in Glebe yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just before 4.30pm today, a 23-year-old woman was working behind the counter of the Glebe Point Road store when a man and a woman entered the store.

The pair approached the counter at the rear of the premises and the man jumped over the counter and attempted to open the cigarette cabinet which was locked.

He yelled at the employee to give him the keys to open the cabinet, which she complied, but he was still unable to manipulate the lock.

He assaulted the young staff member and made her open the cash register where he stole an amount of money be running from the store with his female co-offender.

The employee was not seriously hurt during the incident.

The pair have been described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance and aged between 13 and 17.

The man is said to be approximately 170cm tall with a skinny build and wearing green/grey long pants with a purple and black ‘hoodie’ with white socks and grey/blue shoes.

The women has been described as slightly shorter, 155-165cm, with a skinny build and wearing a black T-shirt with a small white motif on the front and a large white motif on the back, with black tights and white joggers.

Detectives from Leichhardt are investigating the robbery and would like to speak with anyone who may be able to assist.
